Oταν ο Αντιπρόεδρος γίνεται ρεζίλι διεθνώς

Τα επικοινωνιακά τερτίπια του κ. Βενιζέλου σαρκάζει σήμερα η αμερικανική εφημερίδα Wall Street Journal. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, σύμφωνα με την εφημερίδα το Γραφείου Τύπου του Υπουργού Οικονομικών, αμέσως μετά την ολοκλήρωση της χθεσινής τηλεδιάσκεψης με την Τρόϊκα έστειλε στους δημοσιογράφους το παρακάτω e-mail:

"Εκπληξη!!! Η τηλεδιάσκεψη τελείωσε πριν από λίγο. Να αναμένεται σύντομα μία ...σύντομη ανακοίνωση"!

Η ανακοίνωση που εξεδόθη αργότερα, έλεγε οτι η τηλεδιάσκεψη θα ...συνεχιστεί σήμερα!

Τίποτα δεν του πάνε του κ. Αντιπροέδρου! Ούτε οι ανακοινώσεις!!

Greek Finance Ministry Sends Oddly Cheery Email

When it told journalists to stay tuned because Greek Finance Minister’s Evangelos Venizelos’ conference call with the ECB-IMF-EU “troika” had ended, the minister’s press office delivered the news in a distinctly upbeat email:

“Surprise!!! Conference call just finished a while ago… Short announcement should be expected shortly…”

Count ‘em: The three exclamation points!!!

This, from a country that’s on the brink of a financial disaster that threatens to bring the global economy to its knees.

Naturally, the format of the email prompted some speculation among reporters: Was good news coming? Had the two, bitterly divided sides reached an unexpected agreement? Maybe the troika had gone soft on its demands for public sector layoffs and had promised another tranche of money to stave off default. 

In the end, however, the statement simply said that talks would resume on Tuesday. No substantive news – no deal, but no breakdown in talks either.

Given each side’s recent proclivity for storming out of the room, perhaps this is what counts for progress. Greece gets to fight another day. In a country as embattled Greece, that’s cause for three exclamation points."
